SSC CGL 2018 Notification was released on 5th May 2018 by Staff Selection Commission of India. Initially, the official SSC CGL Notification 2018 was scheduled to be released on 21st April 2018.

Official Notification for SSC CGL 2018

A total of 8089 vacancies was declared by Staff Selection Commission of India for SSC CGL 2017 Exam. The Vacancy for SSC CGL 2018 Exam is expected to be more or less same as that of last year. The exact number of vacancy will be declared by SSC in a short while for SSC CGL 2018.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Phases

The exam for SSC CGL 2018 will be conducted in 4 phases:

  • Tier-I exam is scheduled from 25th July to 20th August 2018.
  • Tier-II exam of SSC CGL 2018 will be notified later.
  • Tier-III is a descriptive test, the dates for which will be declared soon.
  • Tier-IV is a Computer Proficiency Test that can be taken as per candidate’s availability after he/she has cleared above mentioned levels of SSC CGL 2018 Exam.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Fee

The application fees for SSC CGL 2018 exam is Rs. 100/-. No fee is required to be paid by female, SC/ST, Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen Candidates.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam is conducted in 4 different levels. The levels are known as Tiers.
The first three levels, Tier-I and Tier-II exams are conducted onlineTier-III is a pen and paper mode of examinationwhile the fourth level, i.e. the computer skill test can be taken anywhere as per the candidate’s availability.

Note: This year, marks scored in Tier-I and Tier-II exam, if conducted in multiple shifts will be normalized and such normalized score will be considered as final and will be used for qualifying the candidates to next stage of examination and to determine the final result.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier II Exam Pattern:

SSC CGL Tier-III Exam Pattern:
A descriptive paper in English/Hindi of 100 marks has been introduced by Staff Selection of Commission of India for SSC CGL 2017 Exam. This paper needs to be completed in 60 minutes.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Exam Pattern:
Two major skill sets are tested through SSC CGL Tier-IV Exam.

DEST: Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate's writing skills.

CPT: This test is conducted to check a candidate's proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Generation of Slides.

The time limit of Tier-I examination has been reduced to 60 minutes. The same time is increased to 80 minutes for person with disability/Physically handicapped Candidates.

The time limit of Tier-II examination is 2 hours. An additional 40 minutes is given to candidates with disability.

Candidates are required to qualify the cut-off of each level of examination in order to get promoted to the next level.

The key point to note here is that there is no sectional cut-off in any level of SSC CGL Examination.

Candidates are required to download SSC CGL Admit Card 2018 from the official website of Staff Selection Commission as the hard copy of the admit card won’t be sent to the applicants via post. The admit card for SSC CGL 2017-18 will be released in sequence:

  • Admit card for Tier-I will be released first followed by
  • Admit card for Tier-II
  • Admit Card for Tier-III exam
  • And finally the admit card for Tier-IV exam.

Candidates are required to read the guidelines provided on the official website of SSC before downloading his/her admit card.

Once the Admit Card has been downloaded, it is mandatory for the candidates to carry it to the exam venue to show it as a proof for his/her eligibility for that particular phase of the exam.

An important thing to keep in mind is that Admit Card for SSC CGL Tier-I Exam cannot be used to give the Tier-II or Tier-III or Tier-IV Exam. The Admit Cards for all these examinations are to be issued separately. Admit Card for Tier-II exam will be issued only to the Candidates clearing the Tier-I Phase of the SSC CGL 2017 exam. Similarly admit card for Tier-IV exam will be issued to candidates who clear Tier-II and Tier-III level of examination.

Finally, the final selection of the candidate will be made on the interview process of the candidate. It is mandatory for a candidate to fare well in his/her Interview Process in order to secure a post through SSC CGL 2017-18 Examination.
